ALAEDDIN and HIS MAGIC LAMP

In a big city in Middle East there lived a very poor tailor. He had a very lazy son, Alaeddin, who, instead of learning a trade, prefered to play in the streets with the other scamps. That upset the good man so much that he became ill and died. Alaeddin was left alone with his mother. While she worked to earn their living, the-good- for nothing son spent his days playing in the street. One day, a stranger approached him, in the street: “Aren’t you the tailor Mustafa’s son?” “Yes, mister, but my father died a long time ago.” The stranger started crying: “Ah, my child! Do you know that he was my brother? But the thing that consoles me is to see a nephew who looks like my pour Mustafa.” But the man was, in fact, lying. He was a powerful magician who had come from Africa to carry out a scheme; he needed a boy just like Alaeddin to help him out. “My dear nephew,” said the man, “go, tell your mother that your uncle has returned and that he will pay her a visit.” The next morning, The African magician came to their house. He told them that, as his brother was dead, he was going to take care of Alaeddin and find him a trade.
